Purcari Wineries, one of Central and Eastern Europe’s leading wine producers, continues its regional growth strategy with a new acquisition in Romania.
Through its Romanian subsidiary Crama Ceptura, the Group has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of CaraprodVin SRL, a wine producer based in Vârstecoiu Commune, within the renowned Vrancea wine region.
The transaction remains subject to customary legal and regulatory approvals, with closing expected once all procedures are completed.
Expanding Production Capabilities in a Key Wine Region
The acquisition includes a fully operational primary vinification platform, wine production facilities, and 33.18 hectares of vineyards. These assets provide immediate production capacity and access to high-quality grape supply in one of Romania’s most prolific wine-growing areas.
Vrancea is widely recognized as Romania’s largest grape-producing region, particularly noted for its white grape varieties and expressive terroir. By entering this region, Crama Ceptura secures a strategic foothold that enhances both sourcing capabilities and production flexibility.
Strategic Rationale: Building a Vertically Integrated Platform
This move marks Crama Ceptura’s first operational presence in Vrancea and represents a key milestone in Purcari’s broader strategy to develop a diversified and vertically integrated wine platform in Romania.
Combined with the Group’s existing investments in Dealu Mare, the acquisition strengthens Purcari’s position across two of the country’s most important appellations. This dual-region approach allows the company to balance portfolio diversity, optimize grape sourcing, and enhance resilience against climate and market fluctuations.
Purcari Wineries has also outlined plans to invest in the newly acquired facilities, aiming to develop a modern primary vinification platform. This will enable tighter quality control from vineyard to cellar—an increasingly critical factor in premium wine production.
Leadership Perspective
Victor Bostan, Founder and CEO of Purcari Wineries, emphasized the long-term vision behind the acquisition:
"Vrancea stands as one of Romania’s most important grape-growing regions, particularly for white varieties with distinctive character. Through this investment, the Group aims to build strong infrastructure, support local development, and establish itself as a reliable partner for regional grape growers."
