Australia’s 2025 ranking of top wines, as compiled by Wine-Searcher, once again highlights the enduring strength of Shiraz as the nation’s flagship grape. 

Among the ten highest-rated wines, six are pure Shiraz, while two more are Shiraz blends — meaning the variety features in eight of Australia’s top wines this year. The remaining places go to a Chardonnay and a Cabernet Sauvignon, underscoring the stylistic diversity and maturity of Australia’s premium wine industry.

Below is the full list of Australia’s best wines of 2025, ranked by their global average retail price (GARP) and aggregated critic scores.

1. Henschke Hill of Grace Shiraz

  • Region: Eden Valley, South Australia
  • Grape: Shiraz

  • Critic Score: 96 points
  • Highlights: Produced from ungrafted vines in the Grandfathers Block; biodynamic viticulture guided by lunar cycles.

2. Penfolds Grange Bin 95 Shiraz

Compared with other prestigious regions such as Burgundy or the Rhône Valley, Australia remains competitive in quality-to-price ratio — confirming its status as one of the world’s great sources of fine wine.
