The Consorzio dell’Asti e del Moscato d’Asti DOCG recently made headlines with the announcement of Stefano Ricagno as its newly appointed president.
Ricagno, a sixth-generation winegrower with a rich educational background from the University of Turin and Alba’s school of oenology, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Currently serving as the director of Piemontese sparkling wine producer Cuvage, a part of the Argea portfolio, Ricagno's appointment marks a significant milestone for the prestigious consortium.
Elected by the consorzio’s board, Ricagno steps into his three-year term with a clear vision for the future. Expressing his commitment, he stated, "We will work in the interest of the denominations in a framework of unity of intent to consolidate the protection, valorisation and promotion of Asti Spumante and Moscato d’Asti in Italy and around the world."
Acknowledging the challenges posed by the current uncertain market landscape, Ricagno is optimistic about the potential for collaboration and synergy within the consorzio. He emphasized the importance of leveraging the collective strength of the association to navigate evolving market trends and consumer preferences effectively.
Ricagno's predecessor, Lorenzo Barbero, assumes the role of senior vice-president, extending his support and well-wishes to Ricagno. Reflecting on his transition, Barbero expressed confidence in fostering continuity and collaboration within the consorzio. Additionally, several vice-president positions were filled, with Bruno Fortunato, Massimo Marasso, Gianfranco Torelli, and Paola Zappino joining the leadership team.
In addition to Ricagno's appointment, the management committee for the new Canelli DOCG was confirmed, with Giacomo Scagliola appointed as president.
