Italy No-Alcohol Wine 2025

Italian No-Alcohol Wine Production to Surge by 60% in 2025

The latest survey from the UIV-Vinitaly Observatory on no-alcohol wines reveals a significant upward trend in production.

Italian producers in this emerging segment anticipate a 60% increase in output compared to 2024, with zero-alcohol wines accounting for a dominant 83% share, particularly in the sparkling wine category.

A Growing Market and Regulatory Boost

According to Paolo Castelletti, Secretary General of Unione Italiana Vini (UIV), the sector is still in its infancy. However, the recent regulatory framework introduced in December has already had a positive impact. The decree, which provides national guidelines for producing no-alcohol wines, has encouraged more companies to expand their offerings and even relocate production to Italy.

“The productive niche is in its embryonic stage, but the positive effect of regulation is evident. In addition to an increase in supply, many businesses are now considering moving their production to Italy,” Castelletti stated.

Vinitaly 2025: Conferences on No-Alcohol Wines

The rising prominence of the no-alcohol wine market will be a key discussion point at Vinitaly 2025, held from April 6th to 9th at Veronafiere. Two major conferences organized by UIV, in collaboration with Vinitaly, will explore both market trends and technological advancements:

  • “Zero Alcohol and Market Expectations” (April 8th, 10:30 AM, Sala Puccini – Centro Congressi Arena) – A deep dive into the “NoLo” (no- and low-alcohol) market, analyzing sales trends, consumption data, and perspectives from key importers, distributors, and the HoReCa sector.
  • “Technology 0.0: Production and Innovation Compared” (April 9th, 10:30 AM, Sala Bellini – Centro Congressi Arena) – A roundtable discussion featuring leading Italian producers of no-alcohol wines, as well as technology providers specializing in zero-alcohol winemaking solutions.

Expanding Global Reach

With international demand for no-alcohol wines growing, Italian producers are targeting key markets such as North America, Germany, the Nordic countries, and Eastern Europe. These regions represent significant opportunities for expansion, driven by changing consumer preferences toward health-conscious and alcohol-free beverages.

The Future of No-Alcohol Wines in Italy

The Italian no-alcohol wine sector is gaining momentum, with regulatory clarity and increased production paving the way for market expansion. As the industry evolves, Vinitaly 2025 will serve as a crucial platform for producers, distributors, and technology innovators to discuss the future of this fast-growing segment.
