After eight years of a close and trustful partnership, the Ferrer Family and José Luis Bonet have sold their remaining shares in Freixenet S.A. to Henkell Freixenet, which now becomes the sole shareholder of the company as of March 2nd, 2026.
The financial terms of the transaction remain confidential.
The collaboration between Henkell & Co. Group and Freixenet began in 2018 with a 50/50 share split, establishing a constructive and highly valuable partnership with the Ferrer and Bonet families. Over the years, this alliance evolved into a unified international organization, forming today the world’s leading sparkling wine producer, Henkell Freixenet.
Pedro Ferrer and José Luis Bonet will remain involved as Honorary Presidents of Freixenet S.A., representing the brand in certain institutions and ensuring continuity in leadership and tradition.
Dr. Andreas Brokemper, CEO of Henkell Freixenet, stated:
“We both shared a deep understanding of tradition, quality, and continuity. Over the past eight years, a relationship founded on trust and collaboration has evolved into a unified team with a shared vision – committed to develop the brand Freixenet and the company towards a sustainable future. Together, we have strengthened our international market position in the global sparkling wine segment and opened new opportunities for Freixenet.”
Pedro Ferrer added:
“The sale of our shares marks an emotional moment for us. As two family-owned companies sharing the same values, we found in Henkell Freixenet a trusted partner who will preserve our legacy while taking the company into the future. At the same time, I am excited to continue developing Ferrer Wines and to shape the next chapter of our wine journey.”
José Luis Bonet Ferrer highlighted the forward-looking aspect of this transition:
“We are looking forward to this new chapter. The acquisition by Henkell Freixenet will not only give continuity to Freixenet, a company renowned for its tradition, but will help Freixenet maintain its excellence and accelerate its expansion as an international masterbrand.”
The Ferrer Family and José Luis Bonet will continue to influence Spain’s wine industry through their increased investment in Ferrer Wines, further cementing their legacy and commitment to producing high-quality wines.
