Gruppo Italiano Vini (GIV), a prominent player in the Italian wine industry with extensive holdings across Italy, has finalized its acquisition of Tenuta Rapitalà, a renowned estate in Sicily.
The acquisition marks a significant milestone in GIV's expansion strategy, consolidating its ownership of the estate by purchasing the remaining 10% shares from the De la Gatinais family, of which it had majority ownership since 1999.
Founded in 1968, Tenuta Rapitalà spans 176 hectares of organic vineyards stretching from Camporeale near Palermo to Alcamo in Trapani. The estate is celebrated for its commitment to quality winemaking and its strategic location in one of Italy's most esteemed wine regions.
Following the acquisition, the new president of Tenuta Rapitalà is lawyer Nino Caleca. The supervisory body, appointed by the new Board of Directors, includes distinguished figures such as Giovanni Canzio, former president of the Court of Cassation, and Bernardo Petralia, former head of the Dap and attorney general of the Court of Appeal of Reggio Calabria, among others.
Commenting on the acquisition, Gruppo Italiano Vini's president, Corrado Casoli, and general manager, Roberta Corrà, emphasized the strategic importance of integrating Tenuta Rapitalà into their portfolio. They highlighted the necessity of new strategies and synergies to support the development and enhancement of their brands in both domestic and international markets.
The completion of the acquisition underscores GIV's commitment to fostering the continued success of Tenuta Rapitalà while reinforcing its position as a leader in the global wine industry.
