The vineyards of Conegliano Valdobbiadene, nestled in the rolling hills of Veneto and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are about to embark on the much-anticipated 2025 grape harvest.
Producers of Prosecco Superiore DOC have expressed widespread optimism, forecasting one of the finest vintages in recent decades.
The Consorzio of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOC, which represents the leading producers of this internationally celebrated sparkling wine, announced on Thursday that the grapes are in excellent condition and harvest conditions look highly favorable. Franco Adami, president of the Consorzio, emphasized that the growing season unfolded without major setbacks and that the outlook for the 2025 vintage is “very positive.”
According to Adami, careful monitoring of the ripening process has ensured that winegrowers are prepared to deliver fruit that meets the appellation’s renowned standards. The harvest timing will not be dictated solely by sugar levels but rather by a comprehensive assessment of grape health, acidity, and skin ripeness—factors that are crucial in shaping the balance and elegance for which Prosecco Superiore is known.
Diego Tomasi, director of the Consorzio, highlighted that the grapes’ health is “optimal.” He pointed to the weather conditions that defined the year: while rainfall was down by 30% compared to the previous vintage, the climate remained stable with temperatures consistent with 2024. A higher number of sunny days favored steady vine development, contributing to grapes with an ideal balance of acidity and sugars, alongside elevated aromatic values confirmed through technical analyses.
“Everything suggests that we will achieve a harvest with exceptionally healthy grapes and the right characteristics to produce wines of great finesse,” Tomasi noted.
Both technical experts and producers are conducting continuous checks in the vineyards to determine the precise start of harvest. Once underway, the 2025 vintage could rank among the top three or four harvests of the last thirty years, according to Consorzio officials.
For the Conegliano Valdobbiadene appellation—renowned as the benchmark for quality within Italy’s sparkling wine landscape—this is an encouraging prospect. The region’s rolling vineyards not only supply world-class grapes but also draw thousands of wine enthusiasts each year who come to discover the traditions, terroir, and craftsmanship behind Prosecco Superiore DOC.
As anticipation builds, the 2025 harvest is poised not just to maintain the appellation’s high standards, but potentially to surpass them, further cementing Conegliano Valdobbiadene’s reputation as the heart of Prosecco excellence.
