Antinori Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars Vineyards Napa USA

Antinori's Continued Investment in the USA: Acquisition of Arcadia Vineyard

In a significant move highlighting their commitment to the American wine industry, Antinori has expanded its foothold in California with the acquisition of Arcadia Vineyard.

Situated in the esteemed Coombsville AVA within Napa Valley, Arcadia Vineyard spans 54.6 hectares, boasting 34 hectares of vineyards predominantly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Merlot.

Originally purchased by Warren Winiarski in 1996 from Mike Grgich's associate, Austin Hills of Grgich Hills Estate, Arcadia Vineyard has since been renowned for its exceptional terroir. Winiarski's passion for the vineyard extended beyond viticulture; he dedicated a portion of its natural habitat to the nonprofit organization "Land Trust of Napa County," ensuring the preservation of Napa Valley's pristine environment.

Following Winiarski's recent passing at the age of 95, Antinori's acquisition marks a poignant reunion between Arcadia Vineyard and Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, which Antinori gained full ownership of in 2023. Juan Munoz-Oca, COO of Antinori USA and Director of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, emphasizing its potential to enhance wine quality while honoring Winiarski's legacy and original vision.

Renzo Cotarella, CEO of Marchesi Antinori, highlighted the strategic importance of the acquisition, aligning with Antinori's goal to produce wines exclusively from estate-owned vineyards. Piero Antinori added, "Warren Winiarski always cherished Arcadia Vineyard, recognizing Coombsville AVA's promise. Reuniting this vineyard with Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars reaffirms our commitment to excellence in winemaking."

The acquisition not only solidifies Antinori's presence in Napa Valley but also underscores their dedication to sustainable viticulture and the preservation of Napa's natural heritage.
