Vinitaly 2025 Wine Fair Italy

Vinitaly 2025 Ends on a High Note with 97,000 Visitors and Strong International Growth

The 57th edition of Vinitaly, held at Veronafiere, wrapped up with an impressive attendance of 97,000 participants, cementing its position as one of the most important international trade fairs for wine.

This year saw a notable 7% increase in international attendance over the previous edition, who accounted for 33% of total visitors, amounting to over 32,000 industry buyers and experts from more than 130 countries.

Particularly encouraging was the performance from Italian wine’s top three export markets: the United States (+5%), Germany (+5%), and an exceptional growth from the United Kingdom (+30%). European neighbors also made a strong showing, with attendance from France rising 30%, Belgium and the Netherlands each up by 20%, and Switzerland and Japan growing 10%. Despite global geopolitical tensions and increased U.S. tariffs, these numbers reflect Italian wine’s resilient international appeal. However, China saw a 20% decline, a potential reflection of ongoing market volatility and shifting trade dynamics.

Vinitaly and the City, the parallel consumer-focused event set in Verona’s historic center, held its ground with over 50,000 tasting tickets sold, matching 2024’s numbers despite the event being one day shorter—another indication of the continued enthusiasm for wine culture among general audiences.

This year’s Vinitaly firmly underscored its growing international stature and strategic importance. With over 4,000 companies, trade associations, and institutions participating, the fair served as a central platform for dialogue and planning across the entire wine supply chain. For the first time, two European Commissioners—Christophe Hansen (Agriculture and Rural Development) and Olivér Várhelyi (Health)—made official visits, reinforcing Vinitaly’s standing as a key political and economic event for the wine sector. They were joined by Italy’s Ministries of Agriculture, Enterprise and Made in Italy, and Foreign Affairs, as well as ICE Trade Agency, a major force behind the international buyer program.

“Vinitaly 2025 closes as a successful edition where the world of Italian wine again expressed a sense of unity and ability to react, even in the face of initial difficulties associated with the introduction of US duties,” stated Federico Bricolo, President of Veronafiere.

He highlighted Verona’s confirmation as the European capital of wine and the event’s increasing relevance to global trade and policy. Vinitaly also deepened its connection with the U.S. market, announcing the second edition of Vinitaly USA, to be held October 5–6, 2025, in Chicago.

Adolfo Rebughini, General Manager of Veronafiere, emphasized the role of Vinitaly as a dynamic brand and a system-level response to the changing global wine landscape. This year’s event introduced several new initiatives, such as Vinitaly Tourism, focused on enotourism, and spotlights on emerging trends including No/Low alcohol wines, RAW wine, and amphora-aged wines. These additions reflect Vinitaly’s commitment to not only capturing current sector trends but also anticipating future market directions.

With overwhelmingly positive feedback from professional attendees and exhibitors, Vinitaly 2025 has solidified its role as a key driver in shaping the future of Italian wine on a global stage, both in commerce and in culture.

The next edition of Vinitaly is already scheduled for April 12–15, 2026.
