On July 11, 2024, wine aficionados and experts converged in the heart of Burgundy, France, for the highly anticipated 24th edition of the Concours International des Muscats du Monde.
This prestigious event, renowned globally, celebrates the diversity and excellence of Muscat wines from around the world. With 15 countries participating, presenting a total of 145 wines spanning various Muscat varieties—both still and sparkling—the competition showcased the pinnacle of craftsmanship in winemaking.
The international panel of 55 expert judges meticulously evaluated each wine under optimal tasting conditions, adhering to stringent quality standards. Their discerning palates awarded a total of 48 medals, further cementing these accolades as benchmarks of excellence in the industry. Among the awarded medals were 31 gold and 17 silver, highlighting the exceptional quality and diversity within the Muscat category.
The 2024 competition not only underscored the global appeal of Muscat wines but also highlighted the skill and dedication of winemakers worldwide. The Top 10 Muscats du Monde, a coveted list within the industry, featured outstanding wines from France, Italy, Austria, Australia, Portugal, Spain, and South Africa. Standout Winners of 2024
From France, Ernest Burn's "Alsace Grand Cru AOC - Clos Saint-Imer - Sélection de Grains Nobles - Muscat Goldert 2018" captivated judges with its elegance, securing a gold medal. Italy showcased its prowess with two distinguished entries from Cantina Sant'Andréa Az. Agricola: the "Moscato di Terracina Doc - Passito - Capitolium 2020" and the "Moscato di Terracina Doc - Secco - Oppidum 2023."
Austria's contribution, the "Gelber Muskateller - Trockenbeerenauslese 2017" by Weingut Felberjorgl, impressed with its complexity and balance. Australia's Morris Wines earned acclaim for their "Morris - Cellar Reserve - Grand Muscat," recognized for its rich flavors and depth.

Spain's Miguel Torres SA impressed judges with "Catalunya DO - Viña Esmeralda 2023," reflecting Spain's modern approach to Muscat wines. Lastly, South Africa's Groot Constantia Wine Estate earned accolades with their "Groot Constantia - Grand Constance 2019," a testament to South Africa's rich winemaking heritage.
