Croatia: Vinistra Celebrates 30 Years

The 30th edition of Vinistra, the renowned wine and winemaking equipment exhibition, commenced with grandeur at Poreč's Žatika, radiating a modern ambiance like never before.

This milestone event not only marked three decades of Vinistra's legacy but also unveiled a fresh visual identity, adorned with warm hues echoing the spirit of togetherness symbolized by a bunch of berries.

Luka Rossi, president of Vinistra, articulated the association's journey of transforming Istrian viticulture and winemaking into a globally recognized brand. Through perseverance and collective effort, Vinistra has overcome challenges, evolving from a modest regional initiative to a beacon of excellence in the global wine arena. Rossi's heartfelt acknowledgment extended to the association's members, predecessors, and all contributors to Istria's illustrious wine story.

The opening ceremony, graced by Boris Miletić, Prefect of the Istrian County, underscored the pivotal role of Istrian winegrowers and winemakers in elevating the region's agricultural landscape. Miletić hailed them as ambassadors of Istria, shaping its identity and fostering pride through Vinistra, an embodiment of the Istrian lifestyle.

Tugomir Majdak, envoy of the Prime Minister of Croatia, emphasized the concerted efforts to promote Istria's indigenous grape varieties, lauding Vinistra's role in showcasing Malvasia, Teran, and Momjan Muscat on the global stage. The event garnered further accolades from Valter Flego, Member of the European Parliament, and Jelena Đugum, director of the Agriculture Sector of the Croatian Chamber of Economy, who praised Vinistra's branding initiatives and its significance beyond regional borders.

Mayor Loris Peršurić hailed Vinistra as a quintessential part of Poreč's cultural fabric, enhancing the city's allure and drawing visitors from far and wide. The event's impact on tourism was echoed by Kristjan Staničić, director of the Croatian Tourist Board, who recognized Vinistra as a vital contributor to Croatia's tourism promotion, especially during the pre-season.

As Vinistra embarks on its fourth decade, it continues to embody the essence of Istrian winemaking excellence, weaving together tradition, innovation, and community spirit. With each edition, Vinistra reaffirms its commitment to showcasing the rich tapestry of Istrian viticulture while leaving an indelible mark on the global wine stage.
