Exploring Edoardo Miroglio Wine Cellar: Tradition, Innovation, and Exceptional Wines

Founded in 2002 in the picturesque region of Elenovo village, located to the southeast of Nova Zagora, Edoardo Miroglio Wine Cellar stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of grape-growing and wine-making in this historically rich area.

This region's viniculture dates back to Thracian times, with ancient authors praising the local wines, and recipes passed down through generations.

Winery History

The journey of Edoardo Miroglio Wine Cellar began when Edoardo Miroglio, a renowned Italian producer of textiles and wines, recognized the potential of the Thracian region's unique soil and climate for producing high-quality wines. After meticulous analyses and soil tests in Elenovo, Miroglio identified the area's terroir as ideal for cultivating both red and white grape varieties. This discovery led to the establishment of one of the most modern and sophisticated wineries in Bulgaria.

"When I discovered the potential of the Bulgarian terroir, my dream was to create an outstanding Pinot Noir. This variety is one of the most noble and challenging, but at the same time, it is a promise of authentic and harmonious wines. I found in Elenovo village the perfect soil and climate for Pinot Noir and planted there my original core of vineyards. This wine offers the chance to enjoy my heritage...," Edoardo Miroglio said.

By October 2005, the winery released its first production, under the expert guidance of a team of Italian and Bulgarian specialists, including the internationally acclaimed oenologist, Donato Lanati. The winery's architecture is an intriguing blend of ancient aesthetics and cutting-edge technology, naturally integrating with the surrounding environment. The cellar is encircled by vineyards, rolling hills, a natural lake, and green lawns, creating perfect conditions for wine tourism. Enhancing this experience is a luxury guest house featuring a restaurant and a tasting room, designed with a unique fusion of traditional Bulgarian and antique Italian styles.

Edoardo Miroglio Wine Cellar produces a range of esteemed brands, including ELENOVO, HERITAGE, EM, SOLI, and BIO – encompassing still red, white, and rosé wines, as well as sparkling wines made using the traditional method. As of 2013, part of the vineyards are certified organic, with the winery producing four organic wines from Viognier, Traminer, Mavrud, Rubin, and Bouquet grape varieties. These wines have garnered numerous awards at prestigious international competitions, reflecting their exceptional quality.

How is looks Edoardo Miroglio today?

Today, the winery's vineyards sprawl over 140 hectares of remarkably fertile soil, situated at elevations of 200-300 meters above sea level. Here, a meticulous selection of elite French and Bulgarian grape varieties thrives, including Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, as well as indigenous treasures like Mavrud and Rubin.

With an annual production capacity of approximately 1 million liters, Edoardo Miroglio Wine Cellar employs a harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern techniques. Grapes are meticulously handpicked, sorted, and then delicately crushed and fermented in state-of-the-art stainless steel tanks. The wines mature gracefully in French and Bulgarian oak barrels, imparting them with distinctive flavors and aromas that reflect the unique terroir of Elenovo.
